About the Artist

Mengting is a self taught artist living in Des Moines, Iowa. Originally, finding her degree in chemistry, Mengting later found her passion and talent in the arts specifically with using oil paints, liquid leaf and gold leaf media. She draws inspiration from her passion for the beauty found in nature and the abundance of colors that comes with it. Working in her bright and airy studio, she finds tranquility with holding a brush and finds satisfaction in developing her skills as an artist. 

She wants to convey nature’s beauty through her art which requires reflecting on what is most idyllic and captivating and using those parameters to revisualize a scenery in the most spectacular way possible that represents something someone might consider a once in a lifetime view. Her work tends to feed on impressionism and dabble in the realism in order to reimagine a landscape, seascape or still life with its most stunning qualities at the forefront. Painting her ideal beauty of nature also goes with its timing as well. These she portrays through such works imagining flowers coming to full bloom, waves cresting, and sunsets overlooking a vast ocean.

She believes that nowadays there is less appreciation on the environment. Her paintings try to incorporate most of the earth elements such as ocean, water, sky, and land to remind people we are all Nature and live on an amazingly beautiful world. She is always willing to explore different subjects as to embrace the idea of being free-flowing and full of opportunity when coming to the creation process. Her goal is to express an atmosphere of emotion that elicits love, passion, hope and dreaming into people's lives.
